Turn the tank valve off and disconnect the grill hose from the tank. Wait five minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Turn the tank valve On VERY, VERY SLOWLY. Once the valve is completely open, light the burner farthest from the tank and turn the flame to high. Move to the next burner and repeat, until all the burners are lit. Are all the flame heights back to normal? If so, problem solved. If not, repeat the procedure again. If that doesn't solve the problem after the second attempt, it's time to replace the grill hose/regulator. You can purchase one at any home improvement center or hardware store that sells grills. Be sure to take your old one with you, to get the proper length and size.

It's aftermarket, but much cheper and works great, I suggest to go ahead and buy all 3 to replace.

It depends on the type of meat you want to smoke.
Some take longer than others. Example: Brisket verses a rack of Ribs.
There are many good books that get you started.
Hickory is a good wood to start with.

If you have a high pressure 2lb LP Gas System feeding your house, you will need and inline regulator for you grill.

If you have Natural Gas, the grill will have to be converted to Natural Gas. You can do this by changing burner orifices. You can purchase them from Brinkman. That is, if Brinkman approves the change to Natural Gas. Some gas grills aren't convertible.

Sorry, but I am unclear of the question. I think it sounds as if you feel there is a temperature swing with the thermometer supplied with the grill. If I am incorrect, I apologize! I have never really trusted the supplied thermometers and I use a separate oven thermometer placed on the rack, I smoke Turkeys, fish, steaks and I find the only widely differing temperature is when the cover is removed too often. I have had the best results by planning the fire coals and soaked wood chips so that I can rely that the cover can remain undisturbed as long as possible. Sorry, If I am off-base. Good Luck.

You may have turned the tank valve on too fast causing the excess flow valve to cutoff the flow of gas. Turn tank back off, disconnect, reconnect, and very slowly turn it back on. If you need more assistance, let us know.

Since this is an LP grill, you can try replacing the regulator.

The spring inside will rust and break after a couple of seasons. I've found the parts (ignitors and more) at the Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

Yes you can. It's best to use a long lighter, You light the burner from under the grill. Should be air slots on bottom, keep lid up and do not turn burner on until ready with lighter. Sounds like you need a new piezoelectric ignition or a wire problem.
