Yes you do. The Vivitar DVR 410 requires a standard SD memory card (up to 16GB) to record images or video. The 410 is NOT designed to accept SDHC memory cards so make sure you purchase the proper type

DVR 410 to a FireWire cable? As a tech, I found FireWire cables to be vastly unreliable, but if you just have to have one, do NOT scrimp. Get one that is heavy duty. The thicker the cable, the better.
