For the error you described however you would need to check and clean the contacts for the drum on the left side of the inside of the machine.
if it's a drum life error then you either need to replace it and/or reset the counter.
to reset the drum counter, open the front cover, hold down the start button until all lights come on, then release the button and shut the front cover.
Pull the drum cartridge apart to clean the charge assembly properly, it's very easy to pull apart. just make sure you don't break the corona wire in the process.
The printer has a light sensor on the drum/cartridge in the middle of the right hand side (assuming your facing the printer) - its a little circle /window that it uses to check for light. If you cover that with something that doesn't let light in (A small piec of cardboard etc) then you wont get that error anymore and you'll print happily ever.
