If the flash indicates but there is no response on the flash then it is a failure of the flash unit within the camera. You will need open only if you are familiar to deal with such micro mechanisms.
Check the flash unit section for trigger while the flash is engaged. If absent check main board , if not the flash driver, the inverter, capacitor or the flash lamp.
