  • Find a clear space, preferably out of direct sunlight, to set up your PlayStation 2.

  • Plug the AC adapter into the designated area on the back of the PlayStation 2 and then plug it into the wall socket.

  • Plug the RFU adapter or audio/video cords (depending on the model of your television) into the back of your PlayStation 2 and then into your television.

  • Plug your controller into the controller slot adjacent to the disc tray.

  • Plug your memory card into the memory card slot above the controller slot (see "How to Managage a PlayStation 2 Memory Card").

  • Turn your PlayStation 2 on using the on/off switch on the back of the PlayStation 2.

  • Press the eject button to open the disc tray. Insert a game disc and press the eject button again to close the tray and begin play.

  • Turn the PlayStation 2 off when done playing by either flipping the on/off switch or pressing the sleep button.

My sony ps2 have black and white output to tv

hey it is due to the model of your ps2 and your game is PAL and your TV is NTSC or the other way then it would give you black and white screen.the model of ps2 is written on its back side if both your tv set and game and ps2 are pal then there might be a problem with your ps2 av cable or ps2 itself

Getting a disc error when turning on the ps2 with ps2 games, but it works with ps1 games...!

Theres a wheel in the disc drive that controls the elevation of the lens. To mod your ps2 to read burnt ps2 games ONE would alter the height of the lens by adjusting the wheel ever so slightly. There are online tutorials in the precise adjustments for different disks. (one height reads only ps1 games, another height reads ps1 and ps2 games, and one more height reads ps1/ps2 and burnt ps1/ps2 games) Your best bet would probably be to just purchase another ps2 used, but if you want to do it yourself, you can.

How to play ps2 games on ps3

Ok well here is the "Skinny" 1). 20GB has no chrome trim, no memory card reader and no wi-fi. Not manufactured anymore. Has the best backwards compatibility with PS2 games due to Emotion Engine (PS2's CPU) and Graphics Synthesizer (PS2's GPU) installed.
2). NTSC 60GB has the same backwards compatibility as 20GB version, also has memory card reader and wi-fi. Has a chrome trim.
3). 80GB - extended memory, but reduced backwards compatibility with PS2 games, it has only Graphics Synthesizer (PS2's GPU). Around 80% of PS2 games can be played. Available only in NTSC regions.
4). 40GB - can't play PS2 games at all (all PS2 chips were removed), has 2 USBs instead of 4, no memory card reader, has wi-fi. Avalable in black and white colors. White is on sale only in Japan. Uses 65nm technology (lower power consumption). Improved cooling system. It's the latest version. 40GB doesn't support SACD.
5). PAL 60GB - reduced backwards compatibility with PS2 games. it has only Graphics Synthesizer (PS2's GPU). Around 80% of PS2 games can be played.
Wi-fi included in all models, except 20GB.

    PS2 OR PS2 SLIM

ps2 can play dvds but xbox needs a store bought xbox dvd remote to play dvds
the ps2 slim and the ps2 normal have a lot in common so thwere is not much difference, but the slim has a fliptop lid and the fat ps2 has a open and shut slide drive. If I were you I would get the slim because it is the only one you can get brand new nowadays. The xbox may have halo 1 and 2 but sometimes there are freezes on certain xboxes.
