Hi Jerry

Here are the steps on replacing the harddrive in your system. It is pretty each just becareful of the static see warning below. Everything should go smooth for you.

  1. Remove the laptop battery.
  2. Remove one screw securing the hard drive bay cover. This will be located on bottom to the left of the battery in the rear.
  3. Remove the hard drive bay cover.
  4. Remove the hard drive out of the bay.
  5. Then put in new hard drive an cover back on and battery last.
ESD can permanently damage your computer and even kill it. Always ware ESD wrist strap when you work with internal computer components. And avoid static discharge.
Hope this helps answer your question.

Unfortunately you've pretty much tried everything you can to revive the computer. I've worked at Geek Squad for a few years now and I've seen this problem a lot, and it's almost always a motherboard issue. The good news is you should still be able to get the data of the hard drive by using an eclosure such as this:

My Toshiba Sattelite A45-S151 will not power up any suggestions?

test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause you problems computer needs all of the data and power to travel through every working device and to have an end for a computer to be able work properly

a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive check all electrical extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd drives need to have current go through make sure these devices are working

check the cpu make sure it has dust free secure seating

also check your computer ram modules to make sure they are dust free and securely seated

hope this helps you

I tried using the operating system disk to try and fix the error 0xc000000e like stated and it just loops back to the error.

This indicates a bad hard drive, remove hardware and re-seat back into place. If this fails remove hard drive and take it to the computer shop for testing, if it fails you will need a new hard drive.

My dvd writer not functioning well.and i need to re-format my laptop.what will i do?my laptop model is toshiba sattelite m55 s141.my laptop realy need to re-format because its very slow to open a file pls...

Your Toshiba had the restore partition on the hard drive, unless it has been removed.
Press F8 at boot up and select Recover System.
That will allow you to reformat the hard drive and it will place all as it was when you first bought the machine.

Disk error occurred

If this is a hard drive problem and you can't afford to lose the data, I can recommend SpinRite by GRC. It isn't free or shareware but is the best around.
I used it for many generations of PCs and it rarely failed to recover a dead or dying hard drive.

Power went out, turned laptop back on, they had to go thru steps because it said it has an error, and i went thru the steps and the sceen never turned on

could either be a hard drive error or a motherboard problem. Take out the hard drive and put back in again. see what happens.

My toshiba does not boot up

I do not think it is a HDD problem. When you turn it on, are you able to see something on the screen or not? If not, then it is probably problem of the motherboard.

Sattelite A50 has an 42000 rpm IDE Harddisk, buy 40GB or 80 GB.

Is it under warrenty?

We have a toshiba Sattelite A45-140. Hard drive problem

It is not that hard to remove the drive, though, if you are prone to have leftover screws when you take devices apart, you should get help. And before you part with your cash, make sure that the hard disks available are compatble with your laptop, since I have difficulties finding non SATA (IDE) disks for my old 5005.
