Missing Ram

Question

I have a dell CPX 650. I just installed two new 256 Ram in the DIMM slots. It worked for a while. Now one of the DIMMs will not register. Both ram sticks work on DIMM A but not on B. How can I check to see if this is a hardward or software problem. Thanks.

That's what I thought might be the problem.

I bought a motherboard on E-Bay and will install it when it arrives and see if this does the job.

The DIMM B socket is probably going bad. I talked with a Dell Tech, she said a motherboard replacement would be necessary, but if you send me back the Service tag for the laptop, I can be a better help.
