Replacing the transfer roller is pretty simple and doesn't require any tools, though gloves may be a good idea to protect the roller. You open the front door using the front latch and the transfer roller is on the door. The part number is 310-5814. Iteminc.com has these in stock and ships same day. Here is a video that shows you where it is and how to replace it.

SOURCE: Transfer Belt vs Transfer Roller

Its a bogus message. Simply open and close the front cover of the machine. It resets it and the message disappears.

SOURCE: Buying and replacing just the transfer roller on a Dell 5110cn

Maybe if you call you can order just the transfer roller. You could try removing it and cleaning the ends (to provide better electrical contact). You could also try wiping the roller itself with a lint free dry cloth - but do so at you own risk and never touch the roller with your fingers!

HELP me please. Phaser 6250 not accepting new transfer roller.

Here is the 8250 service manual. Page 8-4 begins its replacement of the transfer roller. I must assume you do not have a service contract with Xerox elsewise you would be making uus of such. It is unclear whether or not you initially received a 'replace transfer roller" message or what subsequent message you may have received upon a replacement transfer roller being rejected. Perhaps it was simply a repeated assertion to replace the transfer roller. You have indicated being stuck in a diagnostic phase. That would seem to call for a printer reset which includes a power recycling. You might clean the sensors if you keep getting a "replace the transfer roller" message. https://www.fixya.com/support/t127026-phaser_6250_transfer_roller

Replace Transfer Roller

If the printer still says to replace transfer roller even after it's replaced, then remove transfer roller and manually turn the gears on the transfer roller a few times. It must get stuck or something. Then replace the transfer roller and it should work.

Our Dell 5110cn stopped working and the 'diagnostic' said to replace the transfer roller. I had purchased a Dell Imaging Drum and replaced that. I believe it has a transfer roller as part of the Imaging...

Dell sells the drum & transfer roller a kit, but there are 2 different parts to it, the drum & the transfer roller & they do not look the same. Replacing the drum does NOT replace the transfer roller. We've had a 5110cn for 4 years, I've replace both of these parts & the fuser unit several times.

Replace Transfer Roller Error Message Will Not Reset After Replac

The transfer roller on this machine comes as an assembly consisting of a waste toner tank and a transfer roller. The message you are getting pops up when this tank is full, regardless of the transfer roller's useable life. There is a window on the back that when blocked by toner, cuts off an optical sensor to tell the machine that the waste toner is full. Just unclip the roller from the side, pop it out, and dump the toner out. Careful though, it's a messy job and you might want to wrap the assembly inside a trash bag while emptying it out.

Transfer roller usage message on Phaser 7700. replaced..still wont print

I found the answer here: http://office.support.xerox.com/SRVS/cgi-bin/webcgi.cgi

Resetting Transfer Roller Life
  • Resetting the transfer roller life is to be performed only if the Transfer Roller Assembly was defective and or the assembly is replaced before an end of life or near end of life message. Not to extend the life of the assembly. Doing so may cause premature failure of other internal printer components.

  • The printer will prompt the user to reset the life counts if the assembly is replaced after receiving a Replace Transfer Roller or Replace Transfer Roller Soon message.
note_image33x30.gif    Note: If the main Menu does not appear on the front panel screen and only Replace Transfer Roller is displayed, there may be a print job that is either processing or currently printing. Try the following steps to clear the print jobs and reset the Transfer Roller life:
  1. Press the cancel button several times to flush processing jobs from the printer.

  2. If you do not receive access to the front panel menu by doing this, power off the printer and disconnect Ethernet, parallel or USB cable from the printer.

  3. Turn the printer back on, and while it is powering up, immediately start pushing the cancel key repeatedly until you receive access to the front panel menu.

  4. If the printer menu appears on the front panel screen, follow the instructions below to reset the Transfer Roller life if the printer did not prompt you to reset it:

  1. With Menus highlighted press OK.

  2. Press the Down Arrow and scroll to Supplies Info Menu.

  3. Press OK.

  4. Press the Down Arrow and scroll to Exit at the bottom of the menu tree.

  5. Now scroll up to Reset Transfer Roller Life.

  6. Press OK.

  7. Reset Transfer Roller NOW is displayed.

  8. Press OK to reset the transfer roller life.

Phaser 6250 transfer roller

Hi clwest: I hope that this will help you.

Transfer Roller is at End of Life
■ Print the Supplies Usage page to verify the remaining life and Transfer
Roller install date.
■ Cycle printer power.
■ If the problem persists, follow the procedure below
Note
Look at the clear plastic window on the Transfer Roller. If toner is present in the
center of the window the Transfer Roller is at end of life and needs to be
replaced. If no toner is visible, try cleaning the CTD (ADC) Sensor.
The “Transfer Roller is at End of Life” is a warning. “Replace Transfer Roller” is
a hard stop.
