Very bad DELL battery pack, now NEW.
Dell pack contais 8 cells, one may short. Save old packs.
Open it and replace the shorted cell, verify all cells are good
and charging. NOW your pack must be ACTIVATED by
zapping the triac to turn it on. Two terminal must be zapped.
Afterwards, charge pack in laptop.
Now you are good for another 4 years.
Save your old Dell battery packs, many cells are like new.
Power drill's have like battery arrangement, one cell may fail.
Try entering the system setup at startup, usually pressing the Delete or F2 key, it may also indicate whick key to press. Once in the setup look for a battery utility. Running the utility, if there is one, will calibrate the battery.

When you replace ONE cell in the Dell Laptop battery pack, and
certify that now all battery cells charge well and quickly, the,
DELL battery pack, now upgraded,(repaired), with new cell=DOES NOT
WORK at all in the Dell computer.
I heard there is a secret to zap few terminal in the battery pack,
or twicked to, to start the triac conducting, to be active.
Which terminals are to be energized, to ACTIVATE the
Dell battery pack?
Once the pack is activated, it WILL charge in the laptop, not before.
and, then, you have a "NEW" battery working for you 4 more years.
(untill next time for another exchange, so save your OLD battery
pack, as there is some very good cells in it)
THE Pack contains 8 cells, only one may short, 7 are good.
When one shorts, it shuts down the entire pack.
