Check and clean the exit sensor.
You will find then in the middle behind the exit roller in the paper exit area.
Normaly it is unimpossible to see this sensor because the roller axle is in front of them.
It is the same sensor type like the other sensors with an sender/receiver an a reflector foil.
Helpfull to clean will be a q-tips or a small brush.

EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM.
the ready light blinks green then settles on Red. Software says to remove paper in scanner. There is no paper in the scanner all the sensors are clean as well. Doesnt everyday, somethimes I can fix it by messing with it for about an hour but sometimes not.
