Have you made sure u have the very latest TouchPad drivers and Lenovo applications for your G580 installed?
If they are cleanly installed - theres a possibility that your touchpad has some minor physical damage.
Worth checking the software side first :)

Hope that helps

yeah, i have installed latest driver, no change at all, i dont think its some kind of physical damage, because i am patient with my laptop, it started after installing win7 professional 64bit, it may be the problem, some conflict with win/driver

To stop the mouse jumping around whilst you are typing, have you tried configuring the touchpad? I had the same probelm but found configuring the touchpad to "disable whilst typing" then settng the "reactivation time" to one second.. This seemed to solve the problem in my case. I have a Medion Akoya. Good luck, Brian

What is multi gesture

do you mean multi-touch? It means that the device (touchpad or touch screen) can sense multiple fingers simultaneously.
gestures are specific patterns that perform tasks (like 2 finger scroll, pinch to zoom).

I am quite sure your trackpad supports multi-touch. If they arent enabled you can change the settings. For windows, go to - control panel> mouse>device settings tab> settings. (this might slightly change depending on the driver you have.)

Touchpad on panasonic cf-52

You're going to need the drivers for the gestures installed, you can find this on their website under support and drivers.

It's pretty much the driver for the touch pad, then you can enable gestures by opening the GUI on for the program and enabling "gestures"

What is the multi gesture option available on my acer aspire timeline 4820tg and how do i switch it on or off . plz help me regarding this. regards ankit

The 4820TG's multi-gesture touchpad executes two-finger scrolling, pinch-to-zoom and rotate functions very well. The touchpad is a huge improvement from previous Acer touchpads. The touchpad is large and very responsive. The single touchpad button is comfortable to use and gentle to press. Multi-touch gestures and scrolling works well while surfing the Internet. Nevertheless, it is highly recommended to lower the sensitivity for "PalmCheck" in the Synaptics software to enable usage of the keyboard and touchpad at the same time. Enable/Disable and other touchpad settings can be made using Mouse Properties (from contril panel) and Synaptics Tab.

GoodLuck!

My touchpad works but not its multi gesture its emachines D730

most touchpad drivers will work on windows 7 but the program which control the functionality of the touchpad "Synaptics" or ALPS" pointing device may not be compatible in win7 this is an issue with most computer manufacturers but not their fault since win7 is a new operating system and possibly in the near future who knows when windows will come with a windows update to make touchpads work in windows having all it's functionality available.

try calling your computers maker and ask if they have work arounds for your touchpad some may have options to make all your touchpads functionality work but some may not try calling them and have them check it for you, they should know better since they are trained for the specifics of your system.^_^

Mouse touchpad, keyboard, and usb drives will not work

One thing you can try (for the touchpad)

Acer have got a function key to turn it on and iff (i thought mine was broken for a year). Hold the function key, which is located bottom left of keyboard, and then press F7. It should be F7 anyway.

Hope that helps for your touchpad
