Hi

Remedy

There are 2 things that you want to do: unfreeze the printer and change the Characteristics.

To unfreeze the printer:

1) Open the printer. If you have a little printer icon sitting in your system tray, right-click it and choose Open All Active Printers and Faxes.

2)If there's no icon and you are running XP, choose Start ' Printers and faxes.

3)Right-click the printer and choose Open.If there's no icon and you're running Windows 7, go to the Control Panel, then Printers.

In all cases you'll see a window like this;

4)Choose Printer ' Cancel All Documents.

HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One Printer - I opened the ink cartridge door & it now seems locked in open position - won't close.

Your printer does have a lock that clicks in when you open the printer to replace ink catridges. The User Manual has no specific comment on steps required to release the lock.

Is there a release tab/button that you grip when lifting? If so, suggest you try pressing this same release as you lift the cover, lifting slightly higher to see if the lock will disengage allowing you to close.

If no release tab/button simply try lifting slightly higher as above to see if the lock will disengage.

If either of these does not resolve isse I would inspect losely to see if there is a way to disengage the lock; simply using more force may result in damage.

Printer carriage jam and then locks

Check the following steps for fixing Hp Carriage Jam Error :

Open the print carriage access door. Check for any packing material that may be blocking the internal components. Check for an orange shipping lock that may still be in place on the left side. Pull the shipping lock out, if present, and discard.

Remove and reinstall the cartridges to make sure they are properly installed. Lift the front center of the print carriage access door to open it. Lift the door up until it locks into an open position. Press down on a print cartridge and allow it to spring back up. Lift the cartridge out of the printer. Do the same for the other cartridge. Slide the black cartridge into the slot on the left and the color cartridge into the slot on the right. Press down on each one to lock it into place. Lower the print carriage access door.

Check the print cartridges to make sure the protective tape has been removed from the ink nozzles. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Remove any tape or labels. Replace the cartridges into the printer.

Push in on the tab on the left side of the clean-out door on the back of the printer to open the door. Lift the door out of the printer. Check for any paper jams. Jammed paper can block the printer cartridge carriage from moving. Pull any jammed paper out.

Printer cover open

hi im josh in cebu phils. may i help you?
Friend if the printer states that the printer cover is open. it means that the cover of the printer is open or not locked. the cover above the cartridge is the one mentioned.
1. Be sure to lock or closed the printer cover before printing because if it is open it will not print because the software automatically detect the unclosed part of the printer.
2. check whether the hinges is safely attached it can be found in the printer cover side attached to the body of the printer.
3. try to see if there are some pieces of papers attached or stuck in the cover that's why it detects uncover.
4. clean the cover with soft cloth remove the dust and other dirt.
5. Reboot the pc if the solutions 1-4 is already performed and still warns the problem.
6. Lastly reinstall the printer software CD if the solutions1-5 is already performed and the problem stills occur.
Good luck friend hope i helped you.
