Canon Pixma MP270 error E05
To fix error E05, please do as for error E04, in my case, it doesn't help and here is what I did.
1)While the printer is switched on, open the printer's head cover (not scanner cover, just pull up from the part where 'canon' is written), this will move the cartridge to the center of the printer.
2)Pull off, or remove both cartridge from its cartridge lock (place where we insert the cartridge), and let the lids (the lids that are used to lock the cartridge) remain open, or unclosed.
3)Switch the printer off, this will move the cartridge lock to the right, and it will hit the printer because of the opened lids, and move back to the center.
4)Attach both cartridges back to the cartridge lock, and close the lid. Then close the printer's head cover, switch the printer on.
5)This should reset the error, and the error E05 wouldn't be shown as before.

Probably your waste ink counter. Should be cleaned or replaced before
resetting but usually you can get away with resetting once.
1. Start with printer OFF
2. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
3. Release RESUME
4. press RESUME twice, then release POWER
5. let green light blink until printhead has finished moving.
6. Select functions below with RESUME, execute with POWER
0 presses - green light - Test Print (exit service for i960)
1 press - orange light - EEPROM info print
2 presses - green light - EEPROM initialise
3 presses - orange light - reset waste ink counter.
This also applies to the i550, i560, i950, i960

Try keeping the paper only in the bottom tray (there's a tray in the bottom) Try pulling any paper out of the top and just close that top tray. Open up the head so that u can see the ink cartridges and turn the printer on and off and maybe it will center itself again. If it's still not working (even if lights aren't red and print head wont align in the center) try manually moving the head back and forth like 18 times so you can lubricate that rail in the back that's holding it. After that, re-turn it off and on again.
