We can't provide directions on replacing a DC03 clutch, as this should only be carried out by a Dyson engineer. If you feel your DC03 isn't picking up as well as usual, you may be able to resolve this with some simple troubleshooting steps:

Replacing the clutch assembly isn't something we would recommend doing yourself.

The issue you may run into in this case, is that spares are no longer available for the DC03. We can provide limited direct support but any service attention requiring parts is not something Dyson can offer any longer.

Brushbar not turning
Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC03 doesn't use a traditional user-replaceable belt. Instead it has a brush control clutch mechanism which allows you to turn off the brush bar when cleaning hard floors and delicate rugs.

If the brush bar doesn't seem to be rotating, it's worth double-checking you have the brush control set correctly. When the machine is reclined into the normal vacuuming position, the brush control should move to the Drive/On position:

Please note, as a safety feature the brush bar will never rotate when the vacuum is standing upright.

Dc03 making screatching noise when hoovering

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC03. The brush control system is designed to make a ratcheting sound to warn you if something is jamming the brush bar. To check for and remove any obstructions, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:
