Well you could use another cable that you can buy from Electronic shops and it's called the i-link cable or 1394 or Firewire. You have to buy the more durable ones which are more expensive as these work better.

Windows 7 does not support USB streaming for that camera (unfortunately). You will need to purchase an i-link (or firewire) cable to transfer video from your camcorder to you computer. NOTE: Be prepared to buy a firewire adapter for your computer (unless your PC already has a firewire input). You should be able to purchase both the cable (approx. $38.00) and the adapter (approx. $10.00) from your local "big box" electronics store.

The USB connection will only download still images from the camcorder. You need a firewire cable and card in your computer to download video. If your computer has a firewire port already, you just need the cable. Hope this helps =]
This happens only mostly if you connect camera on Firewire AFTER you been PC okay, so plug your camera in the Firewire sockets then put your PC on, then the PC will open the firewire port up for use and set up a user port adrs for the port.
You need the connecting cable that came with the unit it has a mioni USM or pin connector one end and USB to the computer at the other end. Windows discovers the camera via the USB cable and allows transfer of material. If you dont have a cable purchase the right one from a camkera store
