Sony DCR-HC52 Mini DV Camcorder Logo
Posted on Jun 05, 2011

What do I need to hookup my dcr-hc52 to my HP computer, running windows 7. My camera did not come with software to install anything on the computer. I have a cord with Dv in end and USB end on the other end. This is the only option I hav,e at the moment, to connect to the computer. But it doesn't recognize the camera. So what do I need to do?? I would like to put on the computer some of my video's, plus share with family. Thanks a bunch, C.M.

Windows 7 does not support USB streaming for that camera (unfortunately). You will need to purchase an i-link (or firewire) cable to transfer video from your camcorder to you computer. NOTE: Be prepared to buy a firewire adapter for your computer (unless your PC already has a firewire input). You should be able to purchase both the cable (approx. $38.00) and the adapter (approx. $10.00) from your local "big box" electronics store.
I hope this solves your issue.. :)
