Why is it when I called ge last night and gave them the model number and told the person what was wrong. that she did not tell me they do not mahe thoes parts any more for my stove. and then made an appointment any ways. and when the service man came to my house and check the stove and said they do not make the pots any more. and I had to pay him 79.00 for the service. the girl on the phone should have told me the parts were not avalible any more and would have saved me 79.00 .

He's probably refering to a magnatron stir kit, comes with a magnatron, HV rectifier and stir runs about 170.00 for the parts. most of these you have to remove the microwave from the wall and dissassmble from the back to get to the componets. Its a High voltage system and if you have no experience I would leave it to someone who does for saftey reasons

If I were you, I would go back to Home Depot and complain about the response you are getting in dealing with LG. They may be able to get an RGA ( return goods authorization ) and send it out to their repair place. Home Depot owes you at least that much since they are the ones that sold it to you. Check with the manager of their appliance department first ! ( bigtime hint to follow: It has been my experience that you wil get the runaround from each and every one of these suppliers.. not just LG.. ALL of them.. some ae a little better than others but by enlarge, they all _____ <--you fill in the blank.. Good luck my friend.

SOURCE: ge microwave oven jes1288 light bulb replacement

The light bulb assembly (bulb and socket are all one piece) is part number WB36X951.

It is located on the air duct assembly where the door switches are mounted.

You can see an exploded view diagram here.

You'll need to remove the outer cover (wrapper) to get to the bulb assembly.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Generally shops charge about $75-90 to visit the home and $75-90 more to do the work. That rate is set by each shop.

I would note if there is any unusual noise or if is it louder or quieter than normal.

A loud buzz, hum, or groan is usually a shorted high voltage rectifier diode, but a sound like gurgling into an empty coffee mug is one symptom of a failed magnetron, and yet the mag can be bad without that sound.

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are working.

(even if the magnetron passes these tests, it can still be bad. If you have high voltage and the diode is good, assume the magnetron is bad)

If you or someone you know want to replace the magnetron yourself, you will need to remove the oven from the wall.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

If it's under magnetron warranty, GE will send you the magnetron to do it yourself. Call them at 888-239-6832.

Be persistent. You may have to speak with a supervisor.
