Does your Garmin Nuvi 885T stop or freeze up?
Is the touchscreen unresponsive or stopped working?
As with most magic devices around us nowadays, there is a brain inside these units called 'firmware'. Over time, for whatever reason they become confused and stop operating the way they did when new.
The solution for these problems is to replace its internal instructions with new ones, called 'reflashing the firmware'.
This is an easy, automated process made simple by downloading and running some software from the Garmin website. A discontinued product,
you can still find it here. Download their software, and then run the file. You will see this screen (except it says 4.70 now):
Click the NEXT button and you are almost done.
Follow the prompts and soon your NUVI 885T will have all new software and should be running smoothly again.
Now that you have upgraded the software of your unit, you might consider performing a hard reset of the device.
