Just had the same problem. You need to use a Torx T-9 Tamper resistant screwdriver. It is a star bit with a small hole in the center.
I purchased mine at Appliance Parts company in Las Vegas.702-382-6532.
Good luck
I called cuisinart customer service and was told that they could not tell me what tool is needed to open the bottom of the coffee maker.
I asked if there was a local authorized repair center and was told that there is no repair program for their coffee maker. It is considered a throw away item.
I found the right tool by calling several differrent people knowledgeble in small appliance repair. I repaired this $100 throw away item for the cost of the tool and a 25 cent piece of tubing.

I need to replace the on/off switch on our coffee maker, but I have tried phillips screwdriver, allen wrench, flat blade screw driver and none of them work to remove screws to remove the base. I can see no other way to get to the interior of the unit to get to the switch. Any ideas on what type of screwdriver to use or to get to the area where the switches are located?
