SOURCE: Maxtor one touch 4 mini-

Quite strange.. I would suggest that maybe one of the usb ports is faulty.. Or ofcourse, one of the cables.. Or the usb port has been mis-wired inside the pc. That has been done before. Anyway, do you have access to 2 usb drives.. I mean micro/thumb drives? I'd test each port by itself first, to see if they operate correctly, then if they do, use the two usb drives in the two usb ports at the same time, to test read & write.. I guess there are other things you could try, like going to control panel, system, hardware, device manager & checking on the status of the usb ports. That may tell you something worthwhile. Whatever you do, test each port with the one single cable. Yer, this is a strange fault. Let me know how you go. Rgds,

SOURCE: System can't Install the MODEM Drivers

You would need to install the USB drivers from the Motorola disk as windows does not have these USB drivers natively.

SOURCE: Garmin GPSMap 60 CSx USB Connection

Actually, I just solved the problem myself...

I went to Garmin's driver download site (http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=591) and got the latest USB driver (2.2.1) for the 60C. (Although, it appears that that driver pertains to all Garmin products, not just the GPSmap series or the 60C.) Installation instructions are pretty much standard for Windows drivers, so it's easy.

That: a) Garmin requires special USB drivers for their product is finicky (most USB-connectable products just connect automatically using Windows' generic USB driver), and b) my unit -- which had always worked just fine, and suddenly stopped connecting out of the blue -- remains a mystery. Nonetheless, a driver upgrade was the final step that I needed. (Although, I also swapped USB cables and upgraded MapSource, too, so maybe it's some combination of those things.)
