Check for bad caps first.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

On off switch on 1707fp moniter not working . I need a new switch. Where can I get one/

Try mouser electronics. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a replacement. Be careful if you open up the monitor though. There are parts in there that can electrocute you even after it's been unplugged.

Power button damange ,

I used two thin putty knives this morning to open the monitor case. First, unscrew the four screws at the back. Then insert a putty knife into the small crack between the front bezel and the monitor shell. Carefully work you way around and wiggle the putty knives. Note that the front buttons are attached to the thin black edge at the front, and there's a thin cable at the bottom. Don't damage that. You can take off the back shell though.

Can't power on my DELL 1707FP monitor

Try a different wall outlet. If no go swap the monitor and tower power cables. I still no joy disconnect the power cord from the monitor, hold the power button for 10 seconds with the power cord disconnected. Try Plugin intu cable. If the screen is still dead check with dell tech support if the monitor has a warranty active on it. If the warranty is out get the monitor checked at a local computer shop.
