Realizing it's an old post, I'll address this issue just in case this should apply to others in the future: Unless you have mechanical issues, locked up struts/shocks, the problem is in the tires and struts/shocks. Runflat tires as well as the sport suspension option causes the car to ride rough. The things that can be changed would be the tires and your struts/springs. When you have the 19" wheel option (or similar), it will smooth out the ride to switch to 18" wheels (or a smaller size) with tires that have a wider side-wall for shock absorption. You can also buy standard springs and struts for the car if that doesn't provide a comfortable ride. You will be sacrificing performance handling but will enjoy a much more pleasant ride. I almost sold my 1st BMW before switching out the wheels and tires from 17" runflats to 16" all-season standard tires, what a difference it made. Good luck to those with similar issues:)
Take it to a professional suspension shop
could be from failed/seized shockys, springs too strong, suspension mounts failed
At this point I would be looking at one or more shockys as a problem

I do not know if this is problem or not but many of the automobiles made today have a steering pump that reacts to engine speed. The faster you go (to a point) the more taunt the steering. This is to give you feel of road and keep from over steering. Either you are not used to this or the pump or pump back feed information has a problem.

Save your self the hassle and expence of troubleshooting and replacement parts, install a suspension retrofit kit which changes the rear bags to coil springs and the front to struts. A car this old you might as well start over for less than $500.00......

There is not a spring....the button under the plastic cover is a self contained small button attached to a circuit board on the underside of the palm rest. Most likely the internal part of the button has collapsed. The button will still work for a short time, but it will finally fail and stay collapsed. The small circuit board has to be replaced.

I want to add additional traction to my John Deere electric Gator. I have heard that you can somehow slip a bicycle tire over the plastic tires. Has anyone done this and how do you do it?

I am having the same problem, My compressor stopped working a few weeks ago. There is a conversion kit available. I have found that Strutmasters.com offers the best advice The kit is about 350 (if you need to replace the shock absorbers) or 225 without the absorbers. The dealer compressor runs for $589.... I found one for 390.
