Locate the tag with your model and serial number on the tractor. Be sure you get the number EXACT or it won't work.
Go to Murray's website and download it. They usually have parts listings at the back of the Owner's Manual

First off, confirm that the tractor is in Neutral and the deck is not engaged. You also need to be on the seat, and in some cases your foot must be on the brake. Then try it.
If by "jump" you mean essentially connect one end of a jumper cable to the battery power coming to the solenoid, and the other end of the SAME jumper cable to the 6 gauge (+/-) wire on the other side of the solenoid that goes to the starter, and it cranks, this means one of two things.
More than likely it is the solenoid that is bad, but the only way to confirm this is to make certain that when you turn the key, it sends power to the small (18 gauge) wire on the solenoid. This is easy to check with a test light.
If power is goes to the solenoid when the key is turned, but the engine fails to crank then the solenoid is bad.
If no power is there, then the problem has something to do with either the ignition switch or ignition wiring, or more likely it is a failure of one of the safety switches, under the seat, transmission in gear, sometimes if the deck is engaged, or other.
One way to confirm that the problem is with a safety switch or ignition switch and rule out the solenoid would be to jump a wire directly from the positive terminal to the small wire on the solenoid that comes from the ignition. If this causes the engine to crank, then the solenoid is OK.
