I had the same thing happen. The problem is that the internal lithium battery is shot. Solution: phone Garmin at 1-800-800-1020 x 2,2,1. You send the receiver in along with a $42.41 check. They will probably replace the unit. They will explain exact procedures when you call.

There should be a place (perhaps under your settings) that allows you to restore system settings. I'm thinking this might clear out the memory. Worth a try.
