- The fact that these turn on while on the charger is an indicator that the batteries are just that far gone. Depending on how much you like these radios vrs the cost of a new set is something to think about.

- I use a newer Midland talk around for camping, hiking etc. The thing I always look for in a talk around radio is if the manufacturer battery goes bad or runs dry can I use some batteries at home with it? I like the fact I can put 4AA batteries of the shelf in my radio in an emergency. And when the stock battery gores kaput, I can use some AA rechargeable batteries I already have at home and save on replacing the battery or radio. Something to think about should you decide to get a different radio set.
