I own a Garmin also, I am aware that Garmin offers updates by buying there current updated CD. You will need to load the CD on to your computer and then plug in your garmin to accept the new updated maps. Go to this link www.Garmin.com it will explain their pricing structure for their updates.

Eventually managed to speak to a man at Garmin who confirmed that it was not loading any European maps because it didn't have enough spare memory to load them all. He said that he would email me instructions for freeing up sufficient memory, the email never arrived but I decided to delet all the voice languages that were no use to me and all the other language 'help' files and tried again - it worked.
At no point did I get a 'insufficiant memory' warning, which would have been very helpful, nor is there any guidance for how much memory will be required when embarking on the update. Take note Garmin...
