You can try "plug and play" feature, but this only works for windows vista or 7 only. if you are using windows xp, you will need to download the software on www.hp.com then click on Support and Drivers, then click on support and drivers again, type the name of your printer. you will get selection on what kind of operating system you are using, choose the right one the click next.
then click on driver, look for full feature software, download it and run.
