    What do you mean by security? Do you want to set a wireless password or internet access password?

Hi,

According to you security settings of your modem is difficult for you.

But you don't have say the OS you are using there. It depend on modem and OS. while installing the driver supported your OS select the PPPoa/PPPoE. After installing go to the web explorer and type the link (IP add) of your modem at the address bar and enter in the modem settings. Your modem vendor will provide this IP or see the manual.

Then go to the security settings and set it pasword protected. Enable the NAT (Network Address Translation)with your Private IP address for security. You can follow the manual to set it properly

are you trying to reset the router, or set up wireless security. You need to be a little more specific. if you cant reset, hold the reset button for LONGER then 30 seconds. if you are setting up wireless security, try to make sure that all settings are correct and apply the settings.

If you have a router, then you need to do a factory reset of it. I would also suggest you upgrade that surfboard to at least a 5100 series or better. The factory reset is somewhere on the back of the "router" not the modem. It is a pinhole that you push with a pen extended. This will take the admin settings and security setting off and reset the admin to factory default. Once you do this you are going to either connect without security settings or determine the factory default admin settings and reset all security again.

Sometimes the security key is on a sticker underneath unit, if not reset router to factory defaults by holding in the reset button at rear with a pencil or something similar.

You want to secure the wireless network.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.
Check the IP address on the computer. Open the router set up page.
Once you open the set up page, you will find the option to make it secured

u might have activated the phone lock code, so go to phone settings and deactivate it, default code for nokia is 1234. if it still does'nt work try restoring factory settings.
