Canon diagnostic procedure for this situation details that one or more of the following have occurred:
1 The user did not install ink cartridges properly at installation / unpacking / cartr. replacement.
2. An non support ink cartridge has been installed.(the cartridge will not work with your Canon printer because it's embedded circuitry cannot be recognized by the printer).
This could mean it has a jam somewhere. Open it up and look for any kind of paper jam, then hold the power button till it shuts off. Turn it back on, and try to do a Windows test print. Has it ever worked, or are you just now setting it up for the first time?
