It might not help unless your scanned size it close to your e-mail limitation. or - Scan as normal and use one of the free filesharing services like dropbox.com (https://www.dropbox.com/features). Once uploaded, e-mail your recipient a link to file.
Have you tried compressing the file into a zip format. If you are using Windows this can be done using right click or download zip genuis and use that. Once compressed the file should be small enough to email.
