If you are still having an issue with resolution, check the computer system's specs to see what is driving your display. I have my princeton 173 running on XP. My system display source (hardware) is and nVidia 8800 GT video card. I have to correct motherboard driver installed, and I have the correct nVidia software downloaded and installed.My Princeton VL173 will support 1280 by 1024 running it at 32 bit color at 96 dpi. I'm running it at 1024 x 768, 32 bit color, 96 dpi.
