SOURCE: how to fix error code 5200 on canon printer MP258?

Here's the procedure. This code is normally encountered after refilling an ink cartridge and replacing the cartridge. Turn off printer. Hold down Stop/Reset button with one hand and turn printer on with other hand. After green light comes on for the ON button, press the Stop/Reset button two times and you should see the green light blink off and the orange alarm light blink "on" with the first press and then the green light comes back on for the power button and the orange light goes off with the second press (if you did it correctly). Now, you need to hold down the ON button about five seconds, then let go to shut OFF the printer. When you turn it back on, the printer should be back to the factory original condition. Make sure you set all your printer properties the way you want them again from your printer properties dialog boxes because some of the settings may have been stored in the printer's EEPROM, which you just reset to get rid of the offending alarm code.
