It depends on how the control unit is programmed. The BIS 10 can't be used as a stand-alone phone (as in....you can't connect it directly to a telephone line).

Enter admin mode:
Slide switch on left (T/P) down to the "P" position.
press the intercom button above TRANSFER
dial the 2 digit extension number you want to modify
Touch the buttons to add/remove the lines.
Green light on means line is active
Green light off means line is not active

If you have a "squared" system (each line assigned to a different button), just press a different line button. To change the order of the lines, slide the "T/P" switch to "P" and press the line buttons in the order you want to use them (ie: Line 4, Line 3, Line 2, Line 1).
If your lines are "pooled" you just get the next available line from the pool - no choosing which line you get.
