The CTD is the Automatic Density Sensor. Below is a step by step on how to perform nearly all maintenance procedures for the 5100 series (Including how to clean the CTD sensor)

Hi. Easy! Open the front cover and you will see two stickers with red borders in front of you. About 10mm above them is the sensor - dust it with a cotton bud or tissue.
Simples!

Have you tried cleaning the ctd sensor? I had this same problem, and using a dry cotton swab over the ctd sensor (located on the inside of the front panel) solved the problem for me.

1320c Dell Printer has blinking orange error light. How to fix this? Have looked for jammed paper, checked ink cartridges, rebooted, etc....Will not print.

If the light is flashing, it might not be the PHD, but you might be having a problem with the PDL emulation. Just go the control panel, right click the Dell printer. Select printer properties, not properties. Go to the advanced tab and check print directly to printer instead of spool print documents. This should work.

I have an orange error light.

If it's not blinking it one of: The PHD (Print Head Device), or belt unit, life is coming to an end. Clean the CTD sensor. Try to clean the CTD sensor with a dry cotton swab. The sensor is located on the front cover (inside).
