I have the same problem. I'll be typing in MS Word and the cursor will suddenly move to another place in the document. Very annoying. I have no idea what to do about this. Actually this just happened now as I was typing this.

When that problem happens to me I turn off my pointer pad. I have a Compaq Presario and it has a button to shut off the mouse pad. When I simply shut it off it does not jump when I am typing. I don't know the originating cause but at least I can make the annoyance go away when it would bother me the most. Hope this helps.

Hi, hope so all r doin well, i"m here today, just to say the cause of that idiot problem the same i was suffering, Look, it's not a problem with the device it self, it's a problem with you, cause while u typing out, your thumbs either from on of yo hands go touch the sensor pad so, it moves the cursor some way apart from where u typin n u find yo self typin some where else, so watch for your thumbs :)

The tip about turning off the mouse pad seems to be the key. I don't have a button on my Presario to turn off the touch pad, but if I cover it with a piece of paper that seems to do it.

Clean your touchpad, making sure the edges are clean, I suggest using a damp cloth. Another culprit could be the eraser head pointer, worst invention ever.
