Microwave light underneath unit burnt out. bought replacement halogen bulbs. changed bulbs and lights worked for about 20 seconds and went out again. Tried another set of brand new bulbs and wont light. Is there a fuse that may be blown?

The light control button is seperate from the control panel. There are 3 seperate buttons located on the left side towards the bottom, these buttons control the light and fan. When I replaced the bulbs the first time the lights worked then went out. I replaced them again and they didn't work. It is just the lights underneath that light up the stove, otherwise the microwave works fine.

Hi,

When the microwave lights don't work, the problem is either the light bulbs, or the relay on the display control board. If you've already replaced the light bulbs and that didn't fix the problem, the relay is shorted and the display control board will need to be replaced. It's very common for the relay on the control board to short out when the bulb does because the relay is very weak. The only fuses on this microwave cut out the entire display and all the lights. There is absolutely nothing between the control board relay and the lights other than wire.

You just unplug the microwave, then remove the screws going into the top plastic vent grille. Remove the vent and that will expose a screw at the top of the control panel. Remove that screw and the control panel will pull up and off. That will allow you to access and replace the control board.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

I understood what you said, however this is a common problem. A bad control relay on control does not necessarily mean that it would make all microwave ' dead '. Check the wiring and the bulb.If both are fine, there is NOTHING between the control board relay and the light.Open the microwave and you would be able to see that.

    Thanks and Regards
