How I can overclocking a xeon e5345 ? - Verbatim HP Intel Xeon Quad-Core E5345 2.33GHz - Processor Upgrade (436013-B21)

IBM IntelliStation zPro came with different CPU chips through 1997 to 2006. Depending on which year or type your machine is will determine if you can upgrade to Windows8.

The chips used were

IntelliStation Z Pro

Type 6899 (March 1997 to ??)

• Dual Intel Pentium Pro at 200 MHz (50 MHz FSB)

Type 6865 (October 1998 to April 2000)

• Dual Intel Pentium II Xeon at 400, 450, 500 or 550 MHz (100 MHz FSB)

Type 6866 (January 2000 to March 2002)

• Dual Intel Pentium III Xeon at 677, 733, 800, 866, 933 MHz, or 1 GHz (133 MHz FSB)

Type 6894 (May 2001 to June 2002)

• Dual Intel Itanium at 800 MHz

Type 6221 (November 2002 to February 2005)

• Dual Intel Xeon at 2.4, 2.67, 2.8 or 3.2 GHz

Type 6223 (August 2004 to March 2007)

• Dual Intel Xeon with Intel 64 (formerly EM64T) at 3.0, 3.2, 3.4, 3.6 or 3.8 GHz

Type 9228 (June 2006)

• Dual Intel Xeon Model 5130, 5140, 5150 or 5160

Windows 8 If you want to run Windows 8 on your PC, here's what it takes:

• Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2 (more info)
• RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
• Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

As you have Type 6223 which a Xeon faster than 1GHz it should work with Windows 8 but not all Xeon processors are compatible depending on which one you have. See this Microsoft site after you check your Xeon chip family on the motherboard or through the Windows system command. Search for xeon.

Processors What processors support Windows 8

Xeon socket is configured differently and will only accept Xeon processors. The same applies to LGA boards.

z8 is nice, I know for sure,
Z8PE-D12 the dual xenon server grade mobo, like my z600 works station has but HP made.
let me guess both boards never worked for you and you bought them on fleabay, and are DOA? that it, what is the story here.

you just put in a new CPU, xeon, ?
well if you did and
1: it is not support, it will do that.
2: or it needs flashed bios to support newer xeons.
3; no you can not run all xeon's made in this mobo ever.
first off put only one xeon the primary socket.
and only ram for just it.
then at ausu we site makes sure you are using the right xeons first.

the correct path is with working xeon, flash the bios.
then upgrade xeons last.

Overclocking is set from the BIOS configuration. Not all BIOS allows overclocking, it may need a BIOS upgrade.
Check the ASUS WEB site for your model motherboard.
Overclocking the CPU (ie running at a higher clock speed) and increasing Frontside bus speed will give better performance BUT there is a downside too, if you overclock too high you could overheat the CPU and it could fail.

If you note down the make and model of the motherboard you will be able to check to see if you can upgrade to better processors and which type of processors the motherboard supports.

You need to check your BIOS. If you can overclock you will see a selection for CPU and speed in BIOS. If not there then your motherboard does not allow you to overclock your CPU.
