You wil get some serial bulbs or some decorative lights in shops

You can find a copy of the instructions on ebay for $5. Otherwise, its not impossible to figure it out without them. There are also spare parts on ebay, or you can buy a second house, make one complete one and sell one off for parts.

Make sure the fireplace is pushed up against the wall of the house...it may snap into place. This worked for me

For the fireplace, if you press the back wall the fireplace backs to, and the button at the same time, it lights up and crackles.

The fireplace most likely came loose in shipping. If you can get your fingertips behind the fireplace and pull if forward a bit.... then it is loose. The is a bar/clasp behing the fireplace the top needs to rest/attach to.... lift up and push back on the fireplace until it 'clicks'. (you will feel it when it sets in properly) One attached correctly to the wall... when you push button to make the TV go up - the fireplace also lights up and makes sounds.
