Error Code Er FF

This is the Error Code listed on the display panel of our Kenmore Elite Trio Model 795.7756. The code appeared after the refrigerator was pulled out from its space for cleaning.

We purchased our refrig about 1 1/2 years ago and had nothing but trouble every since. Display shows ER FF, we unplug it and replug it and it works correctly for about 4 hours than displays ER FF again. This is the 2nd thing to go wrong with this in the last 1 1/2 years. (Ice maker went out twice) I am telling my family and friends not to buy one like this. I've gotton no help from calling Sears or Kenmore.

ER FF - found in another post = Error Freezer Fan. Removed freezer back panel (inside freezer), defrosted ice build up around fan. Error message gone for now. Easy fix at midnight - 20 minutes. Will be looking into ice-up cause.

Thank you ~ your solution fixed the problem! Now I was glad that my husband was home and he could remove the back panel and remove the ice build up. It wasn't all that mechanically challenging...he just had to remove a few screws, unplug the ice-maker and finagle the back panel off...HOWEVER...should this problem ever arise again an, or you do not feel up to all that work just to get the fan going , I would try just unplugging it, emptying the freezer contents into a cooler, chip away at any ice build up up you can see and leaving the door open and let it defrost naturally.Takes more time, but it is a lot less work!

SOURCE: er-ff error message on Kenmore Trio 795

This is an error code that pertains to the evaporator motor but could also be the main board.
If the evaporator motor is running, the main board will probably need to be replaced.
It could be a wiring problem but it's not very likely.

If the motor is not running, some voltage checks will need to be made, at the motor and board, to determine which component has failed.
These checks require a meter and can be difficult to make, even for a technician.

SOURCE: what does ER FF mean on my Kenmore Elite bottom

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error ff is freezer fan fault. This usually happens when either the rear board has gone bad or the freezer fan itself is bad and needs to be replaced. To check what is causing the error you can start with checking the fan which is located behind the back wall inside the freezer. Also check the rear board as it might not be putting the fridge into defrost long enough and is causing the ice to build up in the freezer and thus stopping the freezer fan from turning and so causing ff error. Leave the fridge unplugged for 24hrs which will melt all the ice then plug it back if still the issue is not resolved and you hear the fan running then it is the rear board that needs to be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
