The light portion of my hunter ceiling fan is blinking. At first it started blinking, then it didn't work at all, now it is blinking again. What is wrong?

The blinking is caused by the watt governor to lights( its a small black box with slots in it ). just remove this box and wire direct. this should fix problem.

Thanks! This worked for me - I just removed and bypassed the box. Any safety issues with doing this?

Had this problem and removed the black box (w/slots) and the light works and is somewhat brighter now. Figured the worst that can happen is we burn out the bulbs faster maybe.

Or, Fritz, you could put in higher wattage bulbs and burn down your house. I think candelabras come in 60W and the Hunter fans I have are labelled for 40W. For $3 at Amazon, you can get adapters so you can screw-in 100-watters. Only an idiot would do such things, and thankfully US & UK have laws to protect their idiots.

Actually Fritz, the worst thing that could happen is that some idiot could remove the watt govenenor then install 4 candelabra to medium base adapters and 100W standard bulbs. (Adapters $3 from Amazon, etc.) Thankfully, in the US & UK, we have governments to protect idiots -- and make a lot of trouble for the rest of us.
