Try this
1. Power off both the TV and the DVR.
2. Plug in the HDMI cable to both units.
3. With the DVR off, press and hold the power button on the unit until the word BOOT appears on the display.
4. Wait until the unit reboots and shows the clock again, then power the TV and the DVR up.
5. Choose the appropriate input on the TV for HDMI.
6. Use the SETTINGS button on the DVR remote to get into the "more settings" option.
7. Find audio settings and choose HDMI output, press select.
Hope that helps.........

These units have seen a high rate of HDMI port failure, if it is still under warranty give Sharp a call and they will fix it, if not, still give them a call and see what they will do otherwise they can sell you the part that you need to replace. Let me know if you need anything else

Dear Sir/Madam,

Make sure mutes is not "ON" mode.

Within 30 minutes of pressing MUTE, mute can be cancelled by using one of the methods below:
1) Mute will cancel if you press VOL -/+ or MUTE
2) Mute will be cancelled after 30 minutes have passed.

However, the tv will not suddenly output a loud sound as the volume level is set to 0 automatically.

Please check these settings:

Digital Noise reduction
Audio Only
Output Select
Quick Shoot

Thanks
Good Luck
