I am using a pyramind zpa 100 to power a home system with 8 (6ohm) speakers and ohm matching volume controls (hubbell ?) I plan on using the amp for basically background music but I would like to get the most out of this amp that I can. That being said on the back of the amp to plug the speakers in for the "bridge mode" it shows connecting bthe speaker wires to both positive termials ? There is also a switch for stereo & bridge, I assume bridge and mono are the same ? I only have the audio source plugged into channel A and volume control A only adjusts the volume channel B does nothing ? So basically can anyone tell me how to connect the source and speakers for the best performance. Thank You Don

I wouldn't hook anything up except what Yamaha recommends to the speaker output terminals. That's pretty much asking for trouble!

the amp is going into protect mode due to something wrong in the amp or some thing in the wiring to it ooh yea if you are getting 18v power to the amp that is way to high it should not be higher then 15v if the amp is in protect mode it will not play at all.

Hi,

Based on your post, the pre-amp is doing its job. What might be the mismatch would be the powered speaker system plugged into the output of the Rotel. Depending on what the "powered speaker system" is, it might be that it is a low impedance such as those used in computers whereas the Rotel requires high impedance to be connected to its output. What could be tried is to connect a regular amp or receiver to the Rotel.

Unfortunately without "surround" processing, the center speaker will not work at all. It sounds like there is a problem with the center channel amp which is part of the receiver. This should be a single amp IC attached to the heatsink. There should be a "test" moe that will send white noise to each speaker in sequence. Try that. If that results in no sound to the center, it pretty much concludes that the center amp needs to be repaired. The part cost for this should be around $25.
