Open the front cover and take out the toner/drum unit. On the top of the drum unit you will see a blut tab that you can slide side to side. Do this 10+ times and this should fix your issue. Make sure to put the blue tab back in the original start position which is believe is to the left on that model.

If you open the front cover you will have a grey/black part which is easily removed from the machine. This is the toner/drum package, where the grey part is the drum unit. If you look on the right side on the part of the toner/drum package that would go furthest into the machine, you'll see the corona cleaner, which you should move among the line (left to right) 7-8 times or similar. This should clean the corona wire and solve the problem.
Just put the corona cleaner back to where it started and re-insert the toner/drum package into the machine again.
Reinstall the new drum unit, keeping the front cover open. Press OPTIONS. Press 1 when the display shows REPLACE DRUM? 1.YES 2.NO ACCEPTED. Close the front cover.

SOURCE: my printer is giving me a message as
Mine does the same thing, even when you install a brand new drum, the error light is still on (by the way the Brother Drum is over $100). How do you clear the message?
