Slide the middle left switch to TIME SET. Use the DAY, HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set the current day and time.
Slide the middle left switch to PROG.
When you set the switch to PROG, the number on the right on the LCD display will be a 1, and it will say ON above it. Adjust the DAY, HOUR and TIME for when you want your first program to turn on. Then press the bottom left EVENT button to proceed to set the OFF time for program 1. Adjust the DAY, HOUR and TIME for when you want your first program to turn off.
Press the bottom left EVENT button to move on to your 2nd event, and set the ON time. Again, press the bottom left button to move on to your second event OFF time. Continue in this way until you have programmed up to six different ON/OFF events. When you have programmed as many events as you need, slide the middle left switch to RUN at the center position.
To use the timer now, slide the upper left switch to AUTO at the middle position. The upper left switch, when moved to the right hand AUTO RAND position, will run the programs, but randomly start and stop them within a half hour of their programmed settings.
To use the timer manually, slide the upper left switch fully to the left to MAN, and press the bottom left switch to cycle between ON and OFF.

Intermatic does not carry timer or manual any more:
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/consumer%20outdoor%20timers/electromechanical%20timers.aspx

Add a comment and send me a photo so I can compare buttons with other known timers.
I believe HB71 timer has slide switches that are positioned for each programming step.

I'm looking for a programing guide/instruction for a Intermatic, Model HB71R Programmable timer. The guide is "NOT" at the Intermatic website.

HB71 manual is not available that I can find.
However I am trying to get one of the fixya askers to tell me everything they know about the timer.
For example the button labels and layout.
What they remember the timer doing.
If battery is located on back of timer.
How many outlets and if outlets are 3 prong.
Does timer have photo-eye, or a dial.
What shows on display when timer is plugged in or battery installed.

From this information, I can make a composite of the suspect instructions.
Then I post the instructions.
The asker tries instructions and says good-or-no.
Then I tweak the instructions.
Afterward, many folks have instructions for their timer.

How do i set the intermatic hb71r

Intermatic HB71 is discontinued, and I cannot find a manual.
Many folks ask how to program the timer.
Add a comment with in-focus photo of timer buttons posted on flicker.
If I can see the buttons, I may be able to work out the programming from other timers.

I have an intermatic 7 day all weather timer model HB71R.I have lost the owners manuel.Anywhere I can print one off as it has to be re-programed.

Intermatic does not show that manual.

Intermatic manuals:
http://www.intermatic.com/customer%20service/instruction%20manuals.aspx

They show HB77R raintight.
This model may be close enough to figure out button sequence.
I work with timers and most programming follows similar pattern.
Older timers usually follow same pattern as new timers, except with fewer options.

I have digital programmable timers (Model DT121 and Model DT11) that will accept programs, but won't turn the attached lamps on and off at the programed times. The batterys are new and I've had them...

DT121 Manual
http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/dt121c%20-%20english.ashx

All Intermatic manuals
http://www.intermatic.com/customer%20service/instruction%20manuals.aspx

Intermatic does not show DT11
Intermatic shows the DT121 is no longer available

If the display shows and you can set programs, then the battery is good.
Does the manual override work? This indicates whether the timer on-off switch operates.
If manual override does not work, then I discovered that timers are no longer any good

Programming:
Set present time
Then set ON time for program 1
Set OFF time for program 1
Then set ON time for program 2
Set OFF time for program 2
Most timers will not function if there is a conflict in programming > for example Program 1 says ON at 6 and OFF at 7 and Program 2 says opposite or has overlapping times
When events are set, press SET once > this will put timer in RUN mode

If manual override works, and you set programming correctly, but timer does not carry out instructions, I guess the timer is no good.

Intermatic has 24 hour timers with 2 on-off per day
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/consumer%20indoor%20timers/lamp%20%20appliance%20timers.aspx
Intermatic has 7-day digital timers (all digital timers today are 7 day where you select the day that each program works)
