Half of my doc. is highlited in grey. I tried the highlite key and doesn't work. I add more to the doc and it is also grey. I cleared the format and it is still there. What can I do to fix this?
Sounds like you have a background color on that text. You have to remove the shading from those paragraphs. I don't have office 2007 to find the exact function but in 2000 it's in the format menu under borders and shading.
Try using the format painter. Highlight some text that has no background. Then use the format painter (paint brush) to select the text that has background. The format of the highlighted text should pick-up the format of the non-highlighted text.
Are you using a different view than the normal view. Maybe your document is just displaying like this. Does the grey background still show up in a print preview or on the printed document?
It's probaly a view setting you have selected. Try switching the view to normal or print layout view.
Is no-fill selected in the background option of the format menu when you have highlithed text selected?
Selecting text with your mouse and pressing CTRL+Space will clear any formatting for that selected text.
