Most of the time, this is possible. This will erase EVERYTHING, and you should back up anything that you want to keep. Turn the computer on, and immediately start pressing the F11 key. Check and see if your power brick's light is on. The power brick is that black block of plastic on your power cord. If that light is dead then the power brick is bad. That should be your first item to check.
