Its not easy to get into the sweeper head. I would push a air hose in there and blow the head clean. You will need to find a compressor or your friendly local workshop manager could help you.

I checked the vacuum hose to see if there was a clog. 1st, disconnect the hose from the unit so you have access to both ends. Now, place a marble or other ball in one of the hose and see if it will make it all the way through. I found a major "hairball" about 8-10 in down from the vacuum end. I took a metal cloths hanger and bent it in half and did a "roto-rooter operation. It took about 30 minutes, but now it runs like new. I hope this works for you.

Yes, try this:
Remove the beater bar again, and check the suction cavity behind it. This is where they usually plug up.
