How to Install a Vista Ultimate Language Pack
Windows Vista Ultimate offers a number of enhancements, called"Extras," that provide additional exclusive capabilities to users.Vista Ultimate Language Packs are Extras that make use of the Multilingual UserInterface (MUI) to enable menus and text in different languages.
1.Log into Vista. Make sure to log in as theuser for which you want to apply a Language Pack.
2. Start Windows Update. Hit the Start button, and type"Windows Update" in the search field. Click on the Windows Updateapplication that is highlighted at the top of the window, under"Programs."
3. Run Windows Update. Click on"Check for Updates." The window will then indicate whether or not newupdates are available. Click on "Show Available Updates." A dialogwill appear showing a list of available updates, including Windows UltimateLanguage Packs.
4. Install aLanguage Pack. Select a language, and click "Install." Note thatLanguage Packs are large downloads of approximately 200MB, and require as muchas 1.2GB of storage space. Set aside at least 30 minutes for the installation.Accept any User Account Control (UAC) prompts that appear.
5. Apply the LanguagePack. Once the Language Pack has downloaded and installed, go to"Start," "Control Panel," and then double-click"Regional and Language Options." Select the "Keyboards andLanguages" tab, then choose the new language in the drop-down list under"Choose a display language."
