Hi,
There are two big screws at lower corners of tv at rear side, open them with coin then pull out lower front panel, in middle you will see lamp door, open its screw with coin to see lamp housing, lose its two screws with hex-key and pull out old lamp. Slide in new lamp and put things in reverse order.
Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual and explained with pictures, check page-28 to have better idea.
Click Sony Support link to download user manual free copy of KF-50SX300U if it is required.

Kf-50sx300u rear projection tv just makes a click sound then powers back off . why ?
You are in shutdown--something in power supply or elsewhere is bad.

Set should have a LED or light on front that blinks when this happens and it will blink a specific number sequence.

Have a kf-50we610 that I just replaced the bulb on but I still have nothing but vertical lines
The lcd panel may be faulty or one of the polarisers may have gone. May cost £300 to fix. May need to look at a new projector.

How do I access the lamp on a Vega KF-60WE610?
This page shows Sony lamp location and bulb replacement.
Sony DIY Bulb Guide.

The XL2100 Lamp assembly is located behind the grill, under the front screen. Thumbscrews on left and right loosen and the panel pulls off.

Open Lamp access door by loosening the thumbscrew on the front. The lamp is behind the door and attached by two mounting screws. The mounting screws require an "Allen" or Hex key.

Never attempt to access the bulb or open the door when the bulb is hot. Allow 30 minutes to cool.

Look for specific LED indicator codes on the front of the TV. An explanation of the most likely fault is in your Sony user's manual. Links to free Sony user manuals are also on the link above. Lots of instructions regarding safety, mercury disposal, removing the lamp.

Do not buy a bulb and waste your money if any Sony TV Optical Block or Optical Engine Faults are or were visible before bulb failure.

How do I replace the lamp? Do I need just the bulb, or also the housing?
just the bulb.. write down the model number of the unit and they will give you the same bulb that you need, just give them the model number.

If you are going to install the bulb just remember DO NOT HOLD directly the bulb, use any clothe or gloves, because even a fingerprint can busted the bulb even thou it's not yet use
