Please try the following:

Remove all the batteries including the 3v lithium battery. In the 3v lithium battery compartment you will see a metal tab. Bend this metal tab upward slightly to ensure good contact with the lithium battery.

With the batteries out, turn the unit over so you can see the print ribbon. At one end of the print ribbon you will see a plastic bracket. This plastic bracket should move freely. Using a pen or pencil point, gently move the plastic bracket from side to side in order to ensure it's able to move freely on the print ribbon.

Check the display and make sure it is completely blank. Replace all of the batteries.

Press the P-Reset button with a pen/pencil point or a straightened paper clip.
